Hello Phriends and Phans!
Let's get right into it.....PHELPS IS OFF SUSPENSION! For those new to the scene, USA Swimming gave Mike a 3 month suspension after the 'Regrettable Behavior' photo emerged. Its the end of a very crazy chapter in the Phan World, and I'm glad thats over. And of course all of this happens right before another AWESOME event, yes, the USA Swimming Charlotte UltraSwim. Universal Sports did a cool promo spot showcasing Mike's return to the pool. And the competition will be on Universal Sports starting May 15th.
So just in case some of you are still stuck on any past or present tabloid truth-bending, or you (for some strange reason) forgot why the world fell for Phelps in Beijing, let's recap: Michael Phelps is one of the greatest athletes alive. He's not the ONLY great athlete (Hi , Nick, Megan, Cullen, Kristy, Garrett, Aaron, Ian ;) BUT he is the swimmer who cast the spotlight on the sport like no one else. It's so much fun to watch people get that look of remembrance when they hear Phelps is back in the pool. I love it!
So the UltraSwim will be filled with the best in USA Swimming today. Phelps so far has 100 + 200 Frees, 100 Fly, and buzz is going around that he's gonna pick up the 100 Back. Hmm Peirsol, Lochte, Thoman, Phelps? That's one to watch for sure. Phelps admitted that he's revealing a new freestyle technique at the meet. That's exciting.
In other Phelps news, I HAVE to comment on his look at the Omega NY Store launch. You can find the photos on the PPP Facebook page. Those photos were amazing. We've seen MP in suits before, but this was my fav look on him. Whoever put that look together was very focused. The suit fit nicely and the colors looked good on him. Plus he had to rock the Omega piece on his wrist, NICE.
Seriously, Im just totally ready to see the competition AND Im looking forward to World Trials in Indy. I cant wait to see the guys and girls push towards Rome in July. Dont forget to check out the vids I posted from YouTube. I call them SWIM-VERSE, short for Swimming Universe. A BIG Thank You to Mel Stewart because a majority of the vids are from him. I post some favs as well as newbies. I also always make sure to post at least one female swimmer because it's time for the ladies to take the stage :) They're just as fierce, dedicated, talented, and heavy 'medaled' as the guys.
